A Nice 18th Century British Penny

British copper dated prior to 1800 are some of the best values in all of Numismatics - If this were a US large cent, it would be worth $100,000 or more - these can be found and purchased realtively inexpensively:

  • Nice one! , I have one me self, British Copper and coins in general have gotten pricey but still a bargain compared to U.S. image

Edit to add: I saw a very nice red example this weekend in B,more ($325.00) but also weekly struck on the obverse legend

Nice coin, too bad that slab (I would bet it's a PCGS) is scratched.

True - but better the slab than the coin image

    Was it certified or raw?

Newmismatist, your very nice 1799 has almost the same color as one of that date which I have.

That is a Halfpenny, not a Penny, no Pennies were made in 1799. Great coin, I really like the toning!

It was raw, but would have graded either red or RB, NGC is hard on red, it looked at least 64 or 65 to me...
