Someone please tell me that the bleed at the bottom of the card is the result of a bad scan.

I pulled this one from a vending box - there are probably as many, if not more, with the smudge which is so commonplace, that it appears to be ignored by PSA as a PD.
BTW, many feel this card is undergraded and so do I. I'm going to have Softparade submit it with his next 78T batch.

<< <i>Mike, that card looks perfect from the scan--very nice. Is the "smudge" in the earlier post common to this card? >>
From my experience Mac, I would say there may be slightly more with the smudge than not. But I promise that the 78T experts on the registry channel could tell you more. One of the old price guides I have mentioned the smudge but I don't remember which one or where it is anyway.

Card looks like a perfect PSA 9 to me. Keep in mind, it's hard to judge the condition of a card with just a scan. It's not at all uncommon to find scans with blemishes that are not really there. I trust the trained and certified professionals at PSA more than some stupid scanner and I think the majority of the collectors out there agree with me. Just take a look at the overwhelming success of the PSA Set Registry!

Excellent points, DBH. I'm not a professional grader, so I really don't have any business second guessing the trained professionals at PSA. I thought maybe one accidentally 'slipped through' here, but I now see that I was almost certainly mistaken.

Here's one I have raw from vending also - notice the smudge is less than the graded 9 but definitely there.
This is pervasive in this card as I said. This one will never see a holder.

<< <i>DBH - You are my hero. You're always "telling it like it is" to some of those scallywags out there.

I like to think of DBH as something like a pastor; someone's who always there to kick you back into line when you stray from the righteous path. I think all of us have profited immensely from his perspective and his unflinching ability to remind all of us mere hobbyists that we're not really as smart as we like to think we are.
