    I have no problem with him writing a second book, since it appears (at this time) that his first book has some credibility to it.

    I agree - and, actually can't wait to read it. I know he is just an attention-seeker in many respects, but there appears to be some truth in a lot of his accounts. Should be interesting.

    I guess it is unfortunate that there may not be pictures of Frank Howard, Harmon Killebrew, Reggie Jackson or Mickey Mantle that show a bat in the same configuration...

    Coinkat--I believe I understand what you are saying. Conseco has been made out a clown, and he may be a clown. But, he may be right. And he might be tired of being made out a clown.

    While by no means a fan of Canseco's, it's gotta be an incredibly good feeling that, after months of being made out to be a clown, to be made fun of, to have your integrity called into play because of claims you made, to have it all proved true. I bet he'd like throw up a big FU to everyone who tried to sweep his claims under the rug.

    While he may be an attention getting jerk, he may be the man most responsible for getting the size of the steroid problem brought to the forefront.

    Actually, I was just trying to point out that there were others that had great bat speed, and my apologies for the many I left out, besides the guy pictured. I am not trying to slam Canseco, just revive the memories that I have of others that were quite strong in their own right. I guess I still believe that either Mantle, Howard, Jackson, or Killebrew hit the longest HR in baseball. My intent was harmless...

    And the rights for 'Juiced' have been picked up for movie distribution.

    Should be interesting to see if any creative liberties are taken or if the facts from the book are translated directly to the screen.

    I think that M. Mantle still has the "unofficial" record ...565 feet, in a regular season game.

    I also think Frank Howard, Josh Gibson and Richie Allen have had a 600 foot shot, also "unoffical", in practice or non-majors games.

    In days gone by, it was very hard to accurately measure the real distance of any home run. Still a bit speculative today.

    I think the 565 ft. record by Mantle really does not work. Let me explain... LEGEND has it that Babe Ruth hit an opposite filed HR in Briggs Stadium in Detroit that was 620 ft. As for Frank Howard, I have heard stories and can even confirm one that I saw him hit in 1969 that was long... very long... there are stories about the homeruns he hit as a Dodger in the early 1960's that are the things dreams are made of.

    I mentioned Reggie Jackson because I recall a Homerun that he hit in the All Star game in Detroit in 1972 or 73 that was comparable to Ruth's legendary HR.

    Mantle deserves recognition for the 565 ft blast that was referenced. Richie Allen had his share of long HR'S. So does Harmon Killebrew and others such as Gosh Gibson.

    I'm with you on this. I wonder if any heros like Mantle or Aaron or Killebrew will come out of this era. Everybody seems tainted. Richie "call me Dick" Allen--I loved to watch him swing the bat, even when he whiffed. I think he had the finest pure baseball swing of anyone I've ever seen.
