Cheerio Sac Dollar paying $1500.00

Looking for a Sacagawea Cheerio Dollar set in original condition as placed in the cereal box. If removed from the original packaging, it would need to be certified as a Cheerio Dollar and from the different hub. All serious sellers welcom!

I know the guy who is selling or I should say I've been talking with him.

I really think that he is testing the water to see what the interestes is, i.e. the max. bid.
I was willing to go higher but not 6K. I'll get a bargin I hope or I'll regret it later.

If memory serves me right, only 5,000 were minted. Of that amount, how many were saved ? Certainly not that many, as most people who got one, more than likely spent it.

I can see 6K ... maybe even more.

All I can say is "Thank God I don't collect Sac's" !!!!!!!!!!

I'm reminded that the special burnished Sac's are limited to 5000, and are sell at 400.00 to 450.00.
This of course doesn't speak to the possibility of many of these coins being lost as you say.

No its not, only as a regular SAC. There is no "Cheerios" variety.

Well I bought my Cheerios Sac Dollar Set, paying $2500.00 for an original packaged dollar/cent combination as it was marketed. I have been able to locate another two paying less as they were opened and not original. Thanks to all who took me serious and helped in the hunt.

I’m very sad to say that PCGS blew me off when asked if they would certify them and told me that they didn’t know if they ever would.

Are they smarting for not being the ones to discover it? From experience, PCGS is TOOOOO full of themselves and yes I hope they read this!!!!

Wow. I am amazed that they will not grade this variety. They graded that retarded speared bison which was just a die crack, yet this hub variation is nothing. That stinks. Keep bugging them. They may give in.

Stupid question (sorry, I'm primarily a darkside collector and don't touch modern U.S. stuff at all) but is this legit or are people simply making fun of the Ebay auction?

I don't recall these Cheerio Sacs being in much demand when they were released.

(I remember having one of these Cheerio sets at one point; don't recall if I kept it or not).

Dan,
One of our astute board members discovered they were from a different design than the regular Sacs... so they technically were like pattern coins, not circulation strikes, and are very limited. I bet many were opened and spent!

I agree with Dan...most being spent and thus the reason I paid what I did for the Original set. However, that means that there are some in circulation. I read in Numismatic News where a guy went through thousands of coins and found NONE.
Of course, this form is connected to PCGS and I hope the guys get their head out of where the Sun doesn’t shine. NGC told me that PCGS feel very Burned at them NOT noticing the pattern Varity of this coin.

O', I'm still buying these but realize that they are going to be VERY rare and hard to come by in my humble opinion.

If others are going to collect; DO IT NOW, and watch what I think will be a faster gain/growth than the 1990 no S proof Lincoln or 1995 W Silver Eagle. All of the Dynamics are here, First year issue, Different Hub design, Limited quantity (5500) and late discovery making it a real GEM for collectors. I’m waiting for the first discoveries from circulation and the prices it will fetch.

Tom the discover said don’t sell now for less than $6000.00 to a friend of mine but I note He is offering $1000.00 to Buy. Bargain Hunting I think!
