It's fun gettin' weird stuff outta circulation, ain't it?

There's a Belgian 1-franc piece and a 1-baht from Thailand, in case you didn't already know.

Dutch legend on the 1 Franc. Prior to the Euro Belgium issued coins with either Dutch and French legends. Not too many countries that I can think of that have separate coin issues in different languages. The only other that comes to mind is South Africa. image

As I recall when I looked at the pictures at work, they were adequate. I'm at home on a horrid dialup connection now, so they should show up sometime around September.

There's always room for improvement, but "adequate" is a good first stepping stone. image

    Cool finds image

I wonder how many Thai 10 baht are finding their way into euro circulation? image (They're the same size & shape as €2 coins but worth only ~€0.2, I passed one off at a bar once just to see if I could, tipped well to compensate image )

Anyway, on the photos.. they look good. I think the main problem with these is the resolution. They could be a bit bigger and still remain under CU's 50kb limit, so take advantage! (LM and other dialuppers will just have to suffer! image ) Aside from that, correct the glare and you're good. I don't think it's possible to take a shot of more than one coin at a time without glare, so go one at a time and toy with the angle you shoot at (not too far though or they'll be skewed), but optimally have lighting that can be adjusted too (like a bendable neck desk lamp).
  • Nice finds, pictures aren't bad either, for tips on picture taki'n just search the forum here, there are quite a few buried in the archives
