4SC?

I see quite a few board members that seem not to care for 4SC(4 Sharp Corners). I just bought my first card from them and waiting to see how it goes. Is there something specific about him/them that is not quite fair in their dealings? I would like your thought or issues on them? I know people did not care for DSL, because they thought they got preferential grading. I have bought several cards from DSL all PSA 8 and each one was at least an 8 if not high end 8.

My only beef with them is not taking Paypal.

People feel that they somehow get preferred treatment....even though that's only a case of jealousy talking. All my transactions with them have been very good.

I've bought about 50 cards from 4SC and never had a serious problem. Cards appear as graded 9 or 10. A couple had minor scratches on the PSA case, but not bad enough for me to ask for a refund.

My dealings with DSL have been limited...they don't take paypal and had other issue that I'd rather not post to the board. Never bought from them ago though.

I have had several very positive experiences. They do take paypal to clarify the last post and in fact their listings indicate they prefer Paypal. My two cents.

My reply was for 4SC from the first part of the original question regarding paypal. You are correct in that DSL does not accept Paypal. 4SC does and DSL does not. Sorry for the confusion.

I've had multiple transactions with both 4SC and DSL. I have never been disappointed. They ship fast and offer quality cards IMHO.
  • And they both gouge shipping, not as bad as some but their shipping is crazy high.

The way to buy from DSL, if you buy somewhat regularly, is not to check out with Auction Helper until you've won enough auctions so that DSL's max shipping of $8 is a fair price or a bargain. They don't harass you, especially if you keep winning their auctions. I've spread out my DSL buys across as much as a month to get everything under the same $8 max S&H fee.

4SC, the only way to get a break on shipping is to buy several cards within a day or two from the same eBay ID, not one of the other 4 or 5 they use. They won't combine from different seller IDs because it's "different inventories." (Sent from the same address, though. Prolly the inventories are in different boxes on the same table.)

I use either dealer without hesitation if I want the card for the price and I think it was graded accurately. I do wish they didn't both have quite so many rooms full of 1970s and 80s vending to send to PSA. A single submission from either one can seriously devalue a low-pop card by turning it into a high-pop card.
  • Many dealing with both an d they are great. I agree with most that it is an inconvenience with DSL not taking Paypal but they are always good.

To kind of change up things, has anyone bought from scottsusor where does he get all of these cards he as up for sale. Some nice stuff and alway has something posted that he is selling.

  • I don't mind paying the shipping for dsl or 4 sharp... it's a little high, but not extreme...

The reason I don't mind their fees is that they provide good service. They email you back almost immeadiately and thank you for the payment... They tell you when your card will ship and you get it fairly quickly. If your card is lost in the mail... they will refund your $ (in my experience)

That's worth the extra shipping $ to me.

I am completely annoyed at these novices selling raw cards on eBay... where they sell raw cards for .99 and charge $4 for "shipping." If I want this 1987 topps tiffany Doc Gooden for .99, I'll have to pay $4+ for "shipping"

...and their service is horrible... so, I simply don't bid on their junk.

With DSL and 4Sharp, I can always count on good service...

I have bought from Scott Suser, and again no problems as he is a decent guy to deal with. he goes around to stores and shows (ebay too) looking for certain low pop cards that he feels his customers may need. he provides a great service.

I have bought a TON of cards from 4 SC and have never had a problem. The shipping is a little high, but nothing to complain about. My only complaint, which has been voiced by others, is that they won't combine shipping across E-Bay ID's. At least they're upfront about it. Before I knew they didn't combine shipping, I bought multiple cards and one was from a different ID. They e-mailed me and explained their policy. They were very nice about it and I sent the add'l $ to cover the shipping. Top notch.

DSL is great too. To be honest, I don't blame him for not taking paypal. While paypal is convenient as a buyer, it does rape the seller.

I have bought from some before, name not mentioned, and they charge $5 for a single card for shipping. I think that is high, but I wanted the card so I had to pay it. But this shipping issue, costs has been discussed before. I just hate winning a card for $10 and paying $5 for shipping.

While I agree that Paypal's fees are high especially now that they are owned by ebay (talk about a monopoly) I believe he costs himself many more bids and alot more money than he is saving by not taking paypal as a payment. I know I have skipped on many of his auctions and bought the same card from a seller that takes paypal. Not to say I don't buy from him but rest assured he gets payed slower than the rest who has time to buy a money order and go to the post office? I know i rarely do. In this day and age to run an online auction and not accept an online payment form is a little stupid.

Keep in mind that MANY people refuse to accept Paypal; not because of the additional fees, but because they were once raped by Paypal in the form of a fraudulent chargeback.

  • The only way to protect yourself against that DBH is to not keep a paypal balance or at least not one that has alot of money and just transfer funds to and from your bank acct using paypal when you buy or sell. I've done it for years and never had a problem with fraudulent chargebacks.

Jeff, that's what I do now, but like many others, I found out the hard way. That's why whenever I see someone complain about how certain sellers don't accept paypal, I try to bring up the point that paypal has alienated many sellers, and sometimes, that's a contributing factor as to why a seller would refuse to deal with them.
