1981 Drake's question

Are these worth getting graded? Anyone know what they go for in 9 or 10?

Only 49 graded with only 10 9's and no tens. If you are assured at least 9s then give it a try on the $5 special. The bigger names like Rose, Yaz, Schmidt and Jackson should do pretty well with player collectors. If you are into the cheap like myself (a vending box of 500 for under $50), I don't think that you'lll lose just as long as you pull 9s.
There is no current history on ebay for any PSA graded, and there is currently on Rose in a PSA 8 for .99 with no bids yet. Send in your best 20 big names and give it a go. After I see your results, I may do it myself. Good Luck, STEVE.

The May Beckett's mag has a good article on the '80s (1980s!) cards. It got me interested in unearthing my 1980s K-Marts, Drakes, etc.

I'll be watching this thread to see if it's worthwhile sending them in for grading.

I thought those boxed sets would be worthless forever!

I got the vending box on ebay about a year ago. I can't remember who from, but I believe it was one of the bigger guys, maybe Higbees? I've seen alot of .99 sets listed with little or no bidding, I imagine the seller picked up at least one vending box also. They may still be out there, but I haven't looked for awhile now.

Added: here is a link for a 1984 vending box on ebay now: 1984 Drakes vending box
