I sent a bunch of VAMs into ANACS recently and got them back today. About as I expected; one VAM I had not been able to attribute turned out to be a VAM 170. It is a Hot 50 coin. I looked this coin up on NGC's population report and see that they have graded one coin VAM 170. Is this thing really this rare? The grade isn't anything to yell about; Net AU 50 cleaned. Anyone have this coin?

ANACS shows a population of 38 coins, 5 in Mint State. So, scarce, but not ultra rare. They are very hard to attribute though. The 'R' in
PLURIBUS fooled me. I had it pegged as VAM-171 and they were kind enough to correct it for free.

The R4 indicates Very Scarce (Tens of Thousands) per the Rarity Scale in the VAM Encyclopedia pg viii.
The VAM-171 is an I-5 R6 value indicating Very Rare (Several Hundred).
If I only had a dollar for every VAM I have...err...nevermind...I do!!
