(Alliteration Agony, eh?)
The other day I received a 113 card lot of Kirby Puckett cards from an auction from "amazing_alan". In the auction he said:
"All the cards are in NEAR MINT – MINT condition and are PSA quality gradeable."
Inspecting the cards, I found 30 of them which had at least one soft corner, surface damage, etc. He had sent some cards unprotected and all were wrapped in one big laundry-cleaning bag in the box. One card, a big 1986 Donruss, was badly bent. Another card had a spot of black goo on the back making it stick to the nice Pinnacle card next to it. Yet another example was a 1989 Bowman which was in a hard protective sleeve and all four corners were soft!
Initially I emailed him to say I found several nice cards to fill holes in my collection and to express my unhappiness with the damaged cards. I said that, granted the cards may be gradeable by PSA, but they won't come back in a high grade. He replied saying that the damaged ones must have been "jostled" in transit. That ticked me off the more I thought about it. I wrote back saying it was NOT the USPS' fault for the damaged cards, but rather his lousy packing and card selection. If he replies again with another lame excuse, I'll pursue this "dispute" with the means available.
Ahhh, it feels good to vent...

he lied for sure, but considering you got 113 cards for $4. I really don't think he cares.

I think we sometimes kid ourselves about ebay. It has inherently higher risk for bad deals, it is not a retail store or show dealer where we can inspect before we buy. That is why ebay is cheaper. I bought my fair share of bad cards on ebay, it is usually limited to the low dollar stuff.
And, you are complaining about this?

edit: PS - you will actually be doing me a favor since I have been procrastinating anyway!
If I bought a 113 count lot of 1960 Topps Baseball and managed to win them for $1/card and they were listed as all PSA gradeable and they arrived with more than a quarter of them in horrible condition I'd be PO'd. Even if I did get them for a deal. I dunno...maybe it's just me.
Stone-you have a pm.

BigCrumbs! I made over $250 last year!

It probably cost more to ship those cards than he made, anyway.
I wasn't upset at all when I initially emailed him. I wanted to provide some constructive criticism. It was his reply that got my goat.
The PSA card was 9 (1/1!! yuck yuck) of a 1996 Select Team Nucleus card, one I didn't have yet, so, again, I'm happy overall with what I got. My young nephew back in Minnesota, who just started collecting, is going to be getting the cards I didn't need, so they won't be wasted!
Thanks for all of your feedback! It just felt good to vent. It falls on deaf ears around the house -- except for my son's cat, he loves the attention and will listen for a little while.
Now it's time to add the 9 '62Ts I got today to my Registry Set...that'll take my mind off any "problems" I have!!

Considering the cost of grading, I think ya did great by getting a PSA 9 card! Ya never know what ya gonna find in one of these lots - actually, I could (but won't take the time) make up some nice lots of players that people would be happy with - if they don't mind cards from the 90's - if I throw in 80's - I can promise OC's and soft corners since that's the way they come out of vending in many cases.

chalk it up as a cheap lesson.
better luck next time!!
