What's on your want list??

I enjoyed the thread on which card in your collection you enjoy most. It got me to wondering what card was not in my collection that I WANTED most.

There are two that come to mind that I think I'll eventually own, especially if I quit buying packs from time to time and save a few bucks.

1963 Rose rookie in PSA 7
1955 Koufax rookie in PSA 7

If I had both of those I'd be thrilled. I'm officially not buying another pack of anything (except 2006 heritage of course) until I own both.

I just pi$$ed away another $60 on a handful of packs at the card shop and, even though I got a game used and an auto, I'd still be lucky to get $5 for what I have. I'm about to be converted to vintage only, and not just because GoudyGold says I should. image

Everyone wishes they had Ruth's and Wagner's, but anyone else have that card or two they can reasonably afford if they put their mind to it?

I want a Rose and Koufax rookie.

Great thread subject Shawn. Don't feel too down, I do the same with packs trying to hit the lottery when I could be keeping the money for some nice vintage.

I still don't have a 1951-52 Parkhurst Terry Sawchuk rookie card.. image I'm too picky about centering and would like it to be a 6 or higher for less than $500 since I'm cheapskate.

    Anyway.. That's the one.

    Hmmm - a Hilary Duff "game-used"..............image

Seriously, at the top of mine is something with Buck O'Neil.....not Topps Fan Favorites, though!
  • The 58 cards I still need from 1965 Topps. After that, maybe a 1934 Goudey Gehrig.

    Brian
  • The next card I plan on getting and can actually afford is a 58' Jim Brown rookie in PSA 8. If anyone see's a really nice 8 somewhere for a nice price, feel free to pm me image.

1961 Mantle AS PSA 8 (should get one this month)
1961 Mays AS PSA 8 (haven't seen one in a while)

After that, the big cards left for my sets include

1963 Rose PSA 7 (I don't even bother to search for one, I know I can't afford one anytime soon)
1964 Mantle PSA 7 (the Mantle Mystique bugs me)
    1965 Mantle PSA 7 (ibid)
1957 BRobinson PSA 6 (probably get one this summer if I can find a nicely centered card)
  • i have a complete ex-nmt 63 set minus the rose rookie so i guess that would be mine too. ex/mt would do(or strong ex,)
  • 1953 Bowman Color Stan Musial PSA 3-5. I'm dreaming affordable.

Garret, I know I don't know you that well, but with the auto's and avatar, that's the one card I would've swore you DID have. Best of luck in getting it.

So much for "stealing" a Rose rookie. Everybody wants one.

I would really like this card but it's already up to a grand - estimate the SMR at 900$ - but I believe they are low on pricing.

    image

And I would like this GU Glavine jersey.

If anyone has any spare change - LMK.

1965 Topps Joe Namath PSA 8
1961-62 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain PSA 8
1969-70 Topps Lew Alcindor PSA 8

I have one mentioned in a post above(1976 PSA 8 Payton...was a BVG 8.5 till I broke it out and sent it to PSA in hopes of a 9) and recently sold another mentioned above(1978 PSA 9 Dorsett) because it was given a PSA 9 and was very UNdeserving of it. I actually thought the money was better for my collection than the card even though it was slabbed a 9. Tough call but in the end I figured the card was more important than the flip.

I have the Namath and the Alcindor but in the 4-5 range and need to upgrade.

If we are not only talking cards here, I would put David Wells game worn caps on my list. Lelands hasnt had any worn by Wells in ages. Wells hasnt auctioned any off like he used to and no one is selling (that I know of) any of the hats they have won in the past.

Yeah, he did wear Ruths cap for an inning...Torre warned him not to do it...but of course he did anyway. Once the inning was over, Torre made him get back into his own cap. Im sure Wells was happy just to get away with the one inning.

    SHORT TERM WANT LIST

    1. complete 2005 donruss baseball set
    2. complete 2005 topps heritage baseball set
    3. complete Disneyland 50th aniv set, (sorry Non-sports on my list)
    4. complete 2004 press pass football inserts sets
    5. Topps 1985 O Pee Chee wrestling sets series 1 w/ stickers

    LONG TERM WANT LIST

    1. Complete 1935 National Chicle football set, all authentic, grade doesn't matter
    2. 1957-1979 Topps Football sets, still some missing holes in my collection
    3. 1970's Topps baseball sets, complete first half of the decade
    4. 1954 Bowman Football set
    5. low grade 1959 Topps Baseball set

That's about it for right now. I continue to buy stuff that's not part of either of these lists, but that's being foolish on my part. I think I can probably do almost all of these within the next couple of years, depending on how much I want to fork over for the vintage. The 1954 bowman football set may end up being the hardest one for me to complete. I just haven't seen that much of it on ebay or at shows/shops.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
