Best day of the week to end eBay auctions on. - poll

Just curious about what day sports card/memorabilia sellers think is best to end eBay auctions on.

I didn't bother with times as I think ending auctions in the evenings is best.. If you do think a specific time is very important though post it..

I like Sunday-Wednesday with Tuesday being the best to me. However, I think you have to have a lot of sales for it to really add up to much of a difference. I have had auctions end Friday morning at 6 and do fine. However, now that I think about it I aim for mid-week and evening hours. I am on the west coast so aim to end at 6:30 PM-7:30 PM west coast time.

Tough question, but I voted Saturday. I've been selling on ebay for years now, and have always ran 95 percent of my auctions so they end on Saturday. Don't really have any way to compare with other days, but always felt that by ending on Saturday, just about anybody can view my auctions within 24 hours of ending, i.e. bidders at work on Friday or bidders from home on Saturday. I'm a part time dealer, with a Monday - Friday day job, so Saturday is about the only day that works for me.

I feel that the best selling season is between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Everybody knows it's Sunday night for most items - especially expensive items. I have found though for certain items, especially lower priced items, that Monday is a good night, possibly even better than Sunday.

I agree on that.. I got $50 to $100's more for big named cards that I sold in November/December before Christmas than what they averagely would go for in other months. Good ol' wives trying to pick up nice rare cards for their husbands. image Sadly this is the time when scammers come out the most, people not knowing any better bid on fakes trying to buy something special for their significant other.. but that's getting off topic..

I don't think it matters as much as people think. Sundays through Thursdays have all worked well for me. I just avoid Friday / Saturday, and holidays.

I find that with all the snipe progams out there that just about anytime, anyday is good. If the item is desirable people will find it and set up their snipe. I just had a card (1975 Cetics team PSA 9) go 6 days 23 hours 59 minutes and 53 seconds with no bids at $24.95. In the last 7 seconds there were 3 bids with the card ending at $50.99, for the previous 7 days there was a "Buy it now" of $50 on this item.

I think that the wording of the listing is more important than the time. Be truthfull (mention qualifiers) and try to get the team name in the title. There are many team based collectors who are using searches such as "Yankees", "Red Sox", "Bruins". By not listing the team name in the title you are missing out on a large niche market. When listing a 196? common you get the year collector, but when the team name is in the title it opens the card up to a whole new viewing audience, who would not see it otherwise.

I appreciate all the Sellers' comments here. My wife and I are just getting ready to start selling on the eBay. We've got too much schtuff sitting around and boxed up unused. It's time to lighten the load.

There should be a poll to see how many folks use a snipe service.

  • I agree with Sunday nights about 9:00-10:30pm EST.

I don't think the day matters as much as the time it ends. Mornings, early afternoons, and ridculously late at night are bad for card sellers.
