Why slab?

Just can't understand why people send those $1 worth coin for certification.

    It is possible that it was some type of sample slab...

    The TPG companies have slabbed inexpensive coins to show off the slab itself. I have a Maryland Quarter sample slab by PCGS and an ANACS sample. I could be wrong

    that makes sense...otherwise I can't understand it either.

    Don't question the logic, just get em slabbed. Preferably at PCGS.

    will the grading fee be lower for sample slabs?

    I'm sorry, that's out of my control. And I don't think I have enough cash to bribe the graders to give you better-than-expected grades.

    Some people enjoy putting together a "Certified" set of a particular grade, or just "certified" set in any grade.....some coins have to be certified to be in a registry set wheather it cost more to grade than the coin is worth....i know that is what i am running into with my Canadian PL set...cost more to "certify" than alot of the later coins are worth, even in pl68.....

    I am working on building certified sets for my Canadian coins and when I upgrade the lower grades are usually offered on ebay at 99c.
    If I loose money on some I more than make it up on others!
