The show set-up began at 3 PM. Tough for dealers to get in the back door with the crowd, but everyone managed.

Show was brisk for the 4 hours today. I couldn't even get all my coins in the cases before the barage began.

Gary Hoop aka Grandam participated. We made a good deal trading Ikes.

Couldn't leave the table to shop, but maybe some other forum members will share their thoughts!

    The Friday Update:

sales of Moderns, including Ikes and 1950-1970 cameos were brisk.

Some of the bigger dealers I spoke to rated the show "C" based on low crowd turnout.

    Saw some pretty nice coins:

Larry Shepards $10,000 MS66 81-S that turned into a NGC MS67 * which was really cool (Bought a 71-S PKOK to complete my silver proof - ALL 68DCAM All PKOK)

A really neat 1795 $10 in PCGS MS64 which was all there. Only a cool half a million to own it.

    Many other neat coins.

Hopefully the crowds will be better today.

    Over and out!

Sounds interesting. It's good to hear that shows can still be active.

I arrived at the show at 9:00am Thursday for PNG Day. Paid early bird fee and stayed until 7:00pm Thursday. I was back at 9:00am Friday for Early Bird and stayed until about 3:00pm Friday and then made the 4 1/2 hr drive home.

I met and sold coins to Larry Shapiro. (PQpeace) I enjoyed talking IKE'S with him and was glad to hear that a BIG NAME Dealer like him was going to start carrying some Modern Issue coins as well as his usual stock of HIGH Quality Classic coins.

Talked briefly with Ray Overby & Allan Craven AKA Rayovac & CoinsHunter. They were both busy tracking down HIGH Grade LOW Pop Jefferson Nickels. I know Allan got a few good Nickels but I left before finding out if Ray found anything to his liking. Allan showed me his PCGS 1966 MS65FS & PCGS MS65 1942-D/D Jefferson Nickels that he just recently acquired . They were both bright lustorus coins. These are truly rare coins and it not often you get a chance to see such fine examples!!!!!

I was VERY happy with what I picked up at the show. I got a BLAST WHITE PCGS MS66 1881-S Morgan for bid. Also purchased a 1884-CC Morgan & a few other Morgan Dollars. Picked up (3) PCGS MS65 1972-P TY3 IKE Dollars & a PCGS MS67 1938-D Buffalo Nickel. I was very happy and surprised to acquire the LAST $5 Gold Coin I needed to complete my Modern Gold Commemorative Set (The Jackie Robinson $5 GOLD in PCGS MS69) I wasn't expecting to buy this coin but I got a good deal on it and couldn't pass it up!

BUT,,,,,, my most PRIZED acquisition of the show was a PCGS MS67 1974-D IKE Dollar I got from James Sego. It is a BRIGHT, Lusturous, NO PROBLEM Coin that James and I worked out a trade deal on over the last week or so. James gave me a HECK of a deal on the coin and I am VERY grateful to be able to upgrade my IKE dollar Set. I looked at James inventory and saw some really nice HIGH Quality and WILDLY toned PKOK IKE'S. He truly has "THE World's Largest Selection" of High Quality IKE'S.

James also looked at my 1971-S Peg Legs and CONFIRMED that they were in fact the REAL McCoy's. I was happy to hear that after all the chat on the Peg Leg's on this Forum in the last week or so.

One more thing,,,, picked up a PCGS MS67 Expermintal Rinse SAC Dollar. I didn't think there were any in MS67.

Overall I thought it was a VERY GOOD Show and I was happy with what I picked up.

Gary - Thanks for the kind words!

Show was a little light today, but still managed to sell a bunch of cameos --- to 3-4 different folks. Only one Ike though.

Many of the big boys and girls left today, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. most likely an early exit.

Meet a few of the forum folks which was great. Always great to see people in person.

Met Badger....a true Southern Gentleman and someone who knows his cameos!!

Just got home from the show. I expected to be off from work on Friday, but didn't get to STL until after midnight. Got to the show on Saturday and prioritized looking at coins instead of submitting to PCGS and NGC as I had planned. Didn't realize that both TPGs were leaving on Saturday, so I had a mad rush. image I submitted my Roosie proofs for pedigree and regrade with about an equal number of high grade spares. Also, submitted a pants load of NGC prewar cameo Lincolns in attempt to cross them. (Thanks go to segoja for helping me prescreen the potentials). Forgot to bring my two Superbirds for designation at NGC.image

Had dinner with Fooddude on Saturday at Charlie Gitto's which had great beer, super food and great service. Greg helped with a 1970 No S PR69 Roosie as I am slowly building the Roosie Modern set.image Met up with Wingsrule and did a deal. More on that later.image Talked with Orville who remember the two proof Jeffs by year and grade that I bought from him over a year ago at the CSNS in Milwaukee.image

My lessons learned were to get there earlier and stop letting work get in the way of my coin collecting.
