Sorry Guys, No place else on the forums to post this art medal but it deserves to be seen by others besides myself.
LUDWIG GIES, WVZ117b var “Escape from Eastern Prussia”, about 1915, Cast silver, oval convex obverse uniface with incuse-reverse, 49.3mm X 41.8mm, wt. 18.6g. UNIQUE.
This is the only known specimen in silver (6 in bronze) and, until recently, there was no evidence or proof of this piece’s existence although it had been speculated for 90 years that it did. It evidently surfaced from a very old collection and I was the lucky one to snatch it up before anyone else.
