NEWPS from 4/17 West Haven, CT show

Went to the West Haven show today. The show was dead with less than half of the usual amount of tables and little traffic.
Which was good for me because Allen Berman was set up and I was able to leisurely go thru all his inventory. I asked him about the Papal market since the death of JPII. He said that he expects that there will be a short bubble (price increase vs demand) on JPII material but so far he has not seen a change in buying activity. BTW he had two double row boxes of Papal medals, bronze and silver, going back to the 1600's. Some of it is very pricey.
I only bought 7 coins today, all from Allen including my 1st hammered Austria Hall mint thaler c.1594. Here are 3 of them:
Austria Hall mint c.1594 Thaler, D8100, VF with small flan flaw at the neck line.
Turkey Ottoman Empire 1789 Yuzluk, KM507 VF with adjustment marks.
Essequibo & Demeray 1813 1/2 stiver token, KM9 AU shimmering chocolate brown. This piece is also a doubled die obv most noticable at HRM's ear, he has a slightly doubled profile and the legends are doubled ccw.
Enjoy!

I haven't been to the West Haven show since they started the One in New Haven near Lighthouse park. I am missing anything?

I've yet to attend the New Haven Show. Heard it's basically a lightside show with no darkside dealers. Their next show is May 8th.
Next show for me is the spring Hartford show this Sunday (24th). It has about 25-30 dealers of which 4 or 6 are mostly Darkside.

I really need to know (to quiet my uneasy mind) what you paid for this coin-it is simply beautiful. If you feel awkward about sharing the price, please PM me.

Thought I would respond to a fellow Nutmeger! Have you ever been to the Waterford/New London area and Whaling City Coins? He opens generally by appointment and keeps the doors locked when he is there. I found some pleasant surprises there a couple of years ago. An old time collecter/seller with lots of great information.
I may still have his card if I search for it and you're interested.
Coins look good. We have a good show here in North Carolina in June if you are interested in coming to the Southland!

I've bought coins from Whaling City Coins when they would set up at Willimantic. I don't recall seeing him (or their table) at this year's show.
