Just wondering if I'm the only one to notice the pop reports have been updated with the 2005 Bison P, D and D "Speared Bison" variety...
Man... that was quick... wasn't it last week Gawd asked if the huddled masses if they even wanted it to be designated?
Congratulations Neptune... and others current hoarders!
(I wonder if the people across the street are playing too?)

I guess it does make good economic sense for them, they're hoping to get all these new coins in their holders instead of ANACS, but still... they do need to get up to speed with variety attribution overall.
Congrats and Good luck to those who own these coins, you've just made a fortune on your eBay sales.
Need more $$$ for coins?
Thanks
Yes, those are the 8 that I just got back today. I was quite excited to get them, even though some of the forum members have been quite nasty about it.
Turnaround time was wonderful - one week there and back! They have been very nice to me. My grades for the first 8 were 4 each of 64 and 65 with the Discovery coin being a 65.
That was the good news that offset the bad news when my son called to tell me he is going to Iraq just as I was photoing the slab above. Guess you have to take the bad with the good in life.
I do have a 66 from NGC, and more 65's and a 64 from ANACS.
Sold a raw one last nite on eBay for $207 - started it at 9.99. I do have an ANACS slabbed 65 up that ends in a few days. Username: TxRok if you are interested in seeing a 'close up' photo of the spear itself.

Does this mean that the "variety" will now be included in the registry? Should be very interesting to see where the insanity ends.
Neptune- you seem to think any criticism of your coins or your discovery is criticism of you - can't I think this is horrible for the hobby and still respect you in the morning?

BTW - Thanks FullStep!

Congrats Neptune!!
Nothing personal meant by my agreement with the above statement. My problem is with PCGS and their unwillingness to accomidate collectors by recognizing popular varieties.
It seems PCGS is willing to ride the modern wave, while ignoring what's been long accepted as collectable varieties.

I was wrong. The experts call this a die gouge.
Regardless, all the best to Neptune, but PCGS has got to get with the program.
I find it amazing that PCGS has decided to recognize this variety over other more significant Jefferson varieties.
Hey PCGS what about Cherrypickers, Breen, maybe the 1964 SMS, overdates (53 D over D or 58 D over D), to name a few other varities?
Not to offend anyone but his seems like a pure marketing decision by PCGS.

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!
KinKoin, king of coins or whomever he is today on here has a legitimate "beef" over his PMM quarter now.
I find it difficult to believe PCGS would immediately jump on such a minor thing but I suppose it's no more lame than "First Strike" or some of the other things that are done.

What is really frustrating is that they won't even publish a SPECIFIC list of criteria by which a particular variety will be added to the pop report. Why can't they just say if a specific number have been certified in mint error holders or if NGC has it in their pop report, or if it is a Cherrypickers variety, or if ANACS has it in their pop reports, or whatever.
Wasn't there some hard & fast rule a long time ago that if you could show them that 5 were already graded they would add it to the pop report?
Hey, if it's all about money, just tell us how much is needed to add a particular coin to the pop report - maybe we can take up a collection.
