Anyone have experience with ANR's live online bidding?

There are a few pieces in the upcoming Eliasberg World Gold sale that interest me, but what I really want is one type... and they've got tons listed. Since I'll be away the weekend prior, I doubt I'll be able to miss school to go to the auction (so close, yet so far), and thus couldn't bid live in person. But, maybe I could skip a period or two to bid online.

So, does anyone have any experience? Or am I best putting in a group lot bid, and hoping I get one out of the sale?

Thanks!

Jeremy, I found you need to get into the auction several lots prior and wait for lot with your finger on the bid button, it goes fast. And don't hesitate or it might be gone.

    Jeremy,
I've always put in a proxy bid shortly before the lot comes up. Unlike some of the other auction sites which close I'net bidding the day before live bidding, ANR lets you enter a bid at any time. The action is too quick, even with a high speed connection to live-bid online.

Barry, the problem is they've got something like 20 coins that I'm interested in, at least... I just want one of them... and they're in succession.

  • ANR offers a total expenditure and single lot group bidding. With the single lot group bid you can select up to 5 similar coins on which to bid and by bracketing them on your bid sheet you will only purchase one (with luck). You'll need their bid sheet and fax/mail it to them.

Like someone else pointed out, live bidding moves fast. And we usually say to enter a proxy bid in advance.
However, if you are just trying to win one of many someone else was correct in pointing out the opportunity to use "one lot only" or "total expenditure" which are available through using a bid sheet.
Make sure you PM John K for further help. And good luck!
