Wisconsin leaf errors found in Missouri!! Fact or scam?

tincuptincup Posts: 5,134 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've seen this eBay seller advertise these rolls for over a week (or perhaps there are more than one seller). What do you think? Have there been other reports of these errors being found around Kansas City MO? Or are these claims being made to help hype these rolls to sell???

Sorry, I am not able to provide a hot link. But the auction is eBay #3963354983

Haven't heard. Would be interesting as I think there are more out there but the longer it goes on, the less the likelihood of coins being BU.

For linking.....the way to do it would be to click in the ADDRESS bar when you have the ebay page open to the auction.
Use your mouse to highlight all of it.
    Right click.
    Choose COPY
    Come to your post here
Click on HTTP just above where you type
Right click and Paste it in the first box you get.
    Hit OK
Type in a title in the next box (can be a word(s) or repaste the same link...doesn't matter)

Type your info here like you did for the text of your message.
    Post the message

There...you have the message and the link then image

He only states errors, not what errors, and then claims he has emails from buyers who found leafs. He could easily get out of any fraud claim by a sucker.

    No problem Tincup.
I just take it for granted because I've been doing it forever in different internet applications but forget that others may not.....and it always surprises me that some people don't know.....so I don't mind showing how because it is very useful (and you get more responses to your questions if you make it a lot easier to go to the link)

Got to be fraud. Who in their right mind would sell $$$many hundreds worth for just $15? That's like selling the Golden Egg laying goose for just a few beans. It's a fairy tale.

That's what I think also, Murphy. If I was the seller, and knew there were definitely some to be found, I would not be selling any more of the rolls. Instead, I would be going back to where I had purchased them orginally to see if I could pick up many more at face value before the word got out.

I really suspect that this seller had some 'help' from a couple of friends that purchased rolls for this specific purpose, to leave the feedback 'bait'.

Why else have there not been any other publicity of finds in the area?

I'm local and have heard absolutely no reports of the leaf error quarters showing up as of yet. There is a local coin show this weekend, and I can ask around a bit from a couple of dealers to see if they have heard of anything.
