I use a variety of techniques depending on the coin. The angled camera thing is one I like to use for toned coins and some proofs. It doesn't really work with brown copper where I want to make the relief look sculpted and natural, i wouldn't use it for lustrous coins either because it could drown out the luster.
I find that if I zoom out x3 (the optical zoom) and use macro the angle doesn't have to be as steep but the image is slightly smaller. Hence why I want a new digicam with more megapixels.
I'm still having a hard time with copper. I use a small copy stand for those, and just try to experiment with the light. So far, the pics are not good enough, so I haven't tried to show any of them here

No need, I think. Plenty round already.
