Not only that, but check out the rest of his conditions - charges full shipping for each additional item, does not refund the shipping and charges $1.30 extra for his money-back guarantee - less the 10% restocking fee!!!

Let's see - to get the .90 cents back from the auction if you didn't like the set, it would only cost you - $31.38

I think I'll jump right into that!!!!!

Don't you just hate that? You find a fair price or better on a set or coin only to see a ridiculous shipping charge or a seller not combining postage. I am seeing more and more of it on ebayimage
  • Of course you can still buy the set from the British Mint but I don't know what they charge for shipping.

Edited: shipping to the US would be $4.95

    From Royal mint

I didn't look it up, but doesn't eBay consider this as avoidence of fees??

You only pay eBay fees on the final selling price and not the shipping. Would be like selling a $500 coin for a Dollar and charging $499 for shipping. Bottom line is the same, but eBay gets screwed.

With eBay and PayPal continually raising their fees, I'm afraid more and more sellers have to resort to these ploys to make ends meet. image The one good thing we saw after the last HUGE eBay fee increase announcement, was that because of public OUTRAGE, eBay did make a hasty retreat and said it was all a big "misunderstanding". image

What a rip. ebay specifically states in its policy that this sort of practice is against their rules.

The auction also says that the $29.99 is for media mail.

Can you use media mail for coins? I thought it was just for stuff like books, tapes, etc.

You are correct you can not send coins media mail. What would happen is that the seller in that auction would get a really cheap way of sending his stuff, but if the post office checked his package and found it was not valid media mail, the person it was being sent to would be charged the extra postage. Just one more way this jerk is screwing his customers!
