Post Office Rip OFF

I recently had several giveaways on this forum for YNs. One of them just informed me the envelope was empty and there was a hole in one corner in spite of the cardboard that I taped the coin inside of and sealed it in the envelope. The envelope had a badly roughened edge. Apparently our postal people are still earning their usual ad reputation. I hope the others made it through our postal system. Has anyone else out there had things dissapear in the mail. I've had pay checks, bills and miscellaneous letters vanish. I probably should send things via UPS or FEDX or something that is safer. Anyone else ticked off with the US Mail??????

No way of transport is "safe".You have to be careful with sending coins. Now the coin could have fallen out while being handled.

I will never ship a coin in a paper envelope. I use the poly bubble mailers. I have had a coin mailed to me that was sliced out of the paper envelope. So I will not ship one that way. Poly or boxes for me...

Never send coins in regular envelopes, unless you send them registered. First class regular envelopes go through automated sorting machines, and this exact situation happens all the time. Get some cheap #000 bubble mailers to send coins in.

Edited to add...I'm not laughing at your misfortune...I'm laughing at the yahoos working at the post office
Remember it's not how you pick your nose that matters, it's where you put the boogers.

  • Most orginizations are run by human beings and they are prone to making mistakes. Are any of you human??
  • LOL on lost axle - I guess not really funny tho! Yes, WE have to pay to *INSURE* that the overpaid government employees with benefits up the wazoo, do their job.

  • So you probably put a 37 cent stamp on an envelope and mailed it.
Maybe it got damaged in the automated sorting machines. Your
msg seems like a cheap shot at U.S. Postal employees. Go ahead
and offer UPS or FEDEX 37 cents to send something and I
don't think your package will go very far.
