That's my image of an 1880 morgan. I need to know the grade -- in order to know the grade, I must, obviously, post it here. Well, there's a problem. Before I used to be able to take pictures and post them here in a breeze. I used IrfanView. Well, I just downloaded that again on my new reformatted computer, and I took the quality of the picture down a bunch, IrfanView says the image is under 50 KB (44.96 KB), however I still cannot post it . Could someone please compress this (or try) and then post it ?
Just so you have an idea of the average grade of the coin, my friend (hes 60) thinks its VF. He's been in the coin business for awhile, so I trust him. Since all of the LIBERTY is there on the morgan dollar. All of the mint luster is gone. It has numberous hairlines and scratches. I thought intially the coin was at least AU-50, but he disagreed and said it was in the VF range. VF-40 or VF-45 he didn't say .. just VF. Maybe its EF?

anyone else know the grade on this morgan? Just trying to help my own grading abilities.
An Oxymoron? (Ain't no such thing on a Morgan)!
<< <i>Well it's either Vf of Xf. Only you can tell due to the picture. The way to tell is the amount of original frost or luster left just in front of the hairline, in the hair, in the eagle's wings, etc. If there's frost or luster to spare, it's XF-40 or 45. Little or none move down to VF-35 or below. All the eagles wing lines still there? Vf-20 or better. It's just back and forth, but don't pull your hair out, it's a $4 difference in value. Or grade it like a gold coin and subtract 15 points (au-50 = Xf-35). >>
It has no mint luster oncesoever. It did, but I kept it as a pocket piece. I suppose its VF-20, I looked it up in my PCGS book. It was way dirty, so I (Dont' try this at home kids) cleaned it slightly with a slightly moist fine cloth and a little soap.
