2004 Bowman Heritage...a couple questions

I found myself in Target tonight, picking up a few things...headed to the baseball card aisle, and again no 2005 heritage. Saw a box of this, 11 packs (I think, not sure) for $20,...I gve in and bought it.

I can't seem to find any information on this set anywhere, was hoping for some insight.

The first 62 or so cards are significantly lighter bordered than the rest.

There seems to be three different thickness of cards.

I got a Don Larsen in the mix...but it's numbered like it's supposed to be a current player.

Are these cards worth trading (anyone collecting a set?) Or am I better off just selling the lot on ebay? I bought them mainly because I haven't ripped packs in forever, and thought it would tide me over until I can get my hands on some 2005 topps heritage.

I also bought a box of 2005 topps baseball in a similar manner (but it was just $9.99)...got the Ichiro breaking the single season hits record...nice card, will go nicely with my unused tickets from that game.

Thanks everyone for the insight.

I like the Bowman heritage set. The light borders aren't variations or anything. There are also a few vintage players scattered in, but nobody really of note. The thicker cards are the black and white ones - they're inserted as "dummy" cards to discourage pack searchers. The SPs occasionally still bring a little change on ebay.

Thanks for the link...I actually got 4 SP's (for what that's worth)...think I'll just put em on the bay and test my luck.

  • Ax--I did exactly the same thing. Now I've got a little box full of the '04 Bowman Heritage. I sorta like 'em, but not quite enough to make a set or anything. The best I got was a GU Manny Ramirez bat card. Now I'm wondering why I feel compelled to buy something everytime I walk in the store. I should realize that there's some reason why year old stuff is still sitting on the shelf. I'm curious as to what's going to happen this week. The section where the BB cards are at the local Target is sort of hard to find, and I don't know whether the people around here are really into things like baseball cards. I'll go in to check and if Topps Heritage isn't there yet, buy some toilet paper or something to keep myself from buying more Bowman Heritage.image
