$195 coin? Or why I don't get hired as a grader...

Bought this raw as ms-64, and when I got it knew it was not that, but NGC au58 bummed me out. The seller has offered to buy it back for $195. Now all of a sudden I like it again. Should I sell it or keep it? I do like the look, one of the prettier SLQ's I've seen. Opinions?

  • It's quite attractive...not know what's its actual value is via grey sheet.....I still like it and would think about keeping it if I were you. Now if $195 is MS64 money...then I might have to consider the offer. The dealer could be making out either way as now the coin is certified. image

image That is a very attractive SLQ. I've been searching for one similar to that myself. Seems like a good price to me. But only you can be the judge of thatimage Lee

I love the tone on that SLQ.

I can understand you being bummed about the grade.

I think I would keep it. But it is your money.

Price seems a little HIGH, it is pretty but 95.00 extra pretty???

  • I think it's got a great look, and I would keep it. It's definitely worth a premium over a run-of-the mill AU58. It's not like you're taking an ENORMOUS hit on the coin, I don't think.

It sure is pretty, and you rarely see nice color on an SLQ... it really depends on what you paid, and what you can afford.

  • MS-60 ask is around $100, so I'd probably "put" it back to the dealer for the $195. Then you can buy a real MS-63/4 or two AU-58s!!

It's always a good idea to keep "lessons learned" coins if you can afford to. It will help to keep that from happening again.

Neat rim toning. Looks like it had been in a carboard album or possible a paper coin wrapper. I agree with the AU58.

  • I'll take it!

OK, now back to reality.. I'm pretty new at this coin collecting game, but I won't buy a coin if I don't like it. Once I buy, I keep...Lesson learned, enjoy the beauty...P.S. Don't smack me around too much, OTAY?
