  • It would be awesome to own, and would be centerpiece of anybody's collection. If, for some reason, I decided to sell it (insanity), guess what--it wouldn't be on ebay! But, what do I know. I'm bottom feeding for $5 bargains.

    Hi Chris
It's a nice card and I would probably consider framing the card. Having said that, I think it's getting a pretty good price overall. If you notice, there is a smudge in the "g" - but still a great item!

yeah mike i just dont understand why that would be left like a raw card? i would have asked for it to be protected being a 3k-4k card.

This card may be from a guy who was on "Antiques Road Show"...I cant remember if this was one of the Gehrigs but he had 2 autographed by Gehrig and then about 15 other autographed Goudeys. They were appraised by a guy from Leland's. Alot of the cards had hole punches in them but not the Gehrigs. I recently saw another auction of an autographed Goudey with a whole punch...wonder if this guy is selling his inheritance...or did sell his inheritance and is now coming to market. Awesome piece!

Does PSA/DNA still assign grades to these cards? I know they used to, but I have heard all they will do now is lable the card as AUTHENTIC, and give the PSA/DNA cert #.

I would like it encapsulated, but there is something pretty cool about a raw card ...

  • You can request it either be graded or just labeled as "Authentic". Up until recently I believe, you could not enter a card only labeled as "Authentic" into the HOF Auto Registry set. I think that has changed. I don't think having a grade of "1" on an autographed card like that really makes much of difference.

I think you're right. That was an incredible group of cards, wasn't it? That's a great show every week, but when they bust out the sports stuff it's incredible.

Actually, I'd highly recommend the book written by the two Keno brothers. Even if you don't give a damn about American furniture, anyone that collects anything will enjoy the book. You can get it dirt cheap on Amazon and it's a very high quality book with lots of glossy pictures. Their story is really great and captures the love of collecting that all of us have. You can get the book used for a few bucks plus shipping on Amazon. You won't be disappointed.
