No I have never had one before. He also had a nice set from 1902! But the $750 price tag was a little too much for me...

edit: Well, if it's the 13 coin set it's a deal. Not so for the 11 coin set.

No gold

That means the set was incomplete. Even the 1902 short set had gold. $750 is a decent if not downright low price for a quality full short set including the sovereign and half sovereign. Without the gold, $750 is on the high side, in spite of the Spink valuation of over £500 for the silver sold as individual pieces.
