Easy -- the March 1995 Philadelphia show that my friends went to. I skipped it due to a test the next day in school and Jerry never came back to Philly. Bummer.

Actually, I've always loved the April 1971 show at the Fillmore east.

I know there are plenty of other music fans among our ranks ... it would be interesting to poll the musical tastes of those here and find out who likes bluegrass and who likes Guy Lombardo.
  • I was in Philly for all three that spring........St Patricks Day show......Unbroken Chain

Been to a few. Rochester, Cleveland, Pittsburgh.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • I never got to go to one of their shows, but I am a big fan. I have a few recorded shows around here somewhere.

My favorite is the one I listen to all the time
July 1st, 1992 Buckeye Lake, Ohio
    w/Steve Miller

I'm just too young to have seen them in concert (I'll be 21 in March)

  • Every show was the "best" show. All depends on what frame of mind one was in.image

I'm looking forward to the new season as well. Do you ever watch Carnival on HBO? That's also one of my favorites.

Made it to a show in Denver in the 70's, it was so long, I fell asleep, and someone woke me up when it was over. Something to do with that frame of mind thing.

:::sigh:::: my wife hears Sugar Magnolia and invariably says "isn't that about enough of that song?"

I first saw them in Kansas City late 1972 (or was that early 1973?)
Last saw them in St. Louis at Riverport, their third and fourth final shows.

What a long strange trip it's been!

    Best to all image

The only shows I actually went to were in Houston in 87 and I think 89.
I have to admit I love to early stuff alot more than the later shows.

THIS BELONGS ON THE OPEN FORUM!
Soprano's in High definition is my favorite

Favorite show is still my first:
Stanley Theatre (Pittsburgh, PA), March 3, 1981.

I have been to shows in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Florida, DC, Missouri, and Illinois.
  • I named one daughter Cassidy and the other Morgan. All of you will obviously get the Morgan reference, but for the non dead heads, Cassidy is the name of a Grateful Dead song, which they wrote about Jack Cassidy.

I ran after them in the mid 70's- they put on an incredible show that didn't end till the next morning. My best memories were several shows in Asbury Park NJ- one of the best was a rained out show (which was really a 24 hour WET party for us fans) followed by a day of crashing only to be given an 8 hour show the next night, followed by crashing under the boardwalk with a few hundred great new friends then coming back to reality on the Path train the next AM.
Also look at this awesome 26 Lincoln to keep this coin related.

Why, 5/8/77 of course!!! Not that there aren't plenty of contenders (the next night in Buffalo, 5/26/73, various others) but come on...

I wasn't at any of those, though. Best I attended? Hmmm... SPAC, June 88. Chinese New Year, 1991. 1st night of the spring tour at Auburn Hills, 1992 was pretty great. First night at Soldier that June (the blues one -- James Cotton on harmonica, etc.) was tops, too. But nothing quite touches that May 77 run, does it...

OK, while we're on the topic, useful info for those that have missed it -- you know there are hundreds and hundreds of hours of shows downloadable as shn or mp3 files at gdlive.com, right? If not, you're missing out...

Cool topic, if off-topic. But yes, I collect coins.

Great memories mirabela, Hey Bustman- I remember doing about 50 Hot "Bleeping" Tuna shows one year (1975 I think) wondering how Cassidy could do those solos.....
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • thanks for all the replies...and sorry for going off topic, but wanted to see if there might be a connection between the two

Laura/Legend offered a wildly-toned Barber quarter a couple years ago which I posted here and named The Grateful Dead Quarter. It looked truly psychadelic--at least that's what "they say" it looks like. image

Remember a favorite Show in Hartford Civic Center (10/ 83?) (Later became a "dicks Picks). Scarlet-fire>estimated- eyes. Awsome use of the multi directional speakers during space (which I usually hate).

My soon likes Bertha, Monkey and the engineer, and GoodLovin'

Went to see the dead last summer, great show better in some cases, but still not the same.

    to keep on topic
I collect Franklins, and love the Help>Slip> Franklin's tower jams.
