He stole the pictures from Ira Stein - ebay id iras4. I was looking at Ira's auctions a couple of days ago and say that very same cent with the very same description listed there.

I have sent Ira and email and a PM to let him know what is going on. I also reported him as a fraud to ebay.

I was looking at the source code for this auction and noted the images were hosted at andale. I was just fooling around with the image link and stumbled across the directory with all of andale's images with folder access. They really should use a bit more tighter server security.

I wonder what that andale bulklister.exe does?

It would be hard to shut him down since this person seems to have a large supply of hijacked accounts to use. Now you can see why all the phish emails are used. Sent out by the tens or hundreds of thousands. . .if a small percentage respond, he'll have enough accounts to use for quite a while.

Ok, so it's obviously the same guy giving contact in Italy. He's hijacked at least 4 accounts. I wonder how many more this guy is gonna jack. I don't think mere "reporting fraudulent auctions" is gonna be enough to stop this guy. Well, at least we are stopping him cold on the ones we do find.

Scumnuker and i_hate_scammers must be having a field day.

Could somebody make a running list of all the contact information found for this guy in the fraudulent auctions? Including email addresses, where to ship payment to, ect. Maybe a cross reference of all this contact info will be enough for the authorities to actually do something about this dude.

Yes, I sent him an email regarding changing the pics. He's using andale to host the images though. I was using my own hosting service. I'm not sure if you replace a pic on andale it will just replace the pic and not give it a new 10 or so digit prefix.

I have contacted Heritage (who had sold the NGC PR64 1895 Morgan Dollar recently for $47,000+) and ask them to report the scammer, who happens to be offering to sell the identical coin for a "buy it now" price of $2500.

I can't find the legitimate offering of the 1893-S Dollar the scammer has listed, or I would ask that coin's owner to report the scammer too.

The scammer claims to be a member of "Square Trade" - perhaps if he really is, Ebay can find/get him that way?

if you look at the other listings....the hijackee looks to have some genuine articles up for sale.

if someone bids on that 94 I will retract my bid if you are still able to type out your own explanation

Got an email back from the scammer from "Tracy C Collins" <struck2002@verizonmail.com>.

I asked abou the 1856 flying eagle cent and they replied:

They then quickly shot me another email regarding the 1856 FE that I originally asked about.

In addition, I ran a scan of the email header file and realized that it's not an international issue.

Yeah right, Italy. Try Oklahoma!

The email was sent from a computer connected to the internet via AOL and used a verizonmail account to send the email. The guy made it seem like Italy I suppose because it's mapping through a Server located in Europe.

I finally got tired of it when I asked for LARGE close ups and he emailed Iras same photos to me.

I wrote him back and told him I wanted a pic of the slab in his hand and then told him that it was impossible because he stole the images from IRAS4.

I just wrote him again and asked where he is located in OK and told him I am probably close by.

Not only is this guy a slimeball, he's an idiot. In every auction so far, he starts with a regular one, gets hit with protection bids, cancels the bids then switches to pre-approved only. You'd think after the first couple times he'd get a clue that somebody is on to him.
