I gave away something purple to celebrate my purple star on eBay. It was an amethyst. As I recall, Cosmic Bill won it.

Oh, speakin' of snakes and Aethelreds, you should tell 'em the story of the "snake" you shot in your backyard in Alexander... image

    I'll tell it for him.

To make a long story short, he saw a "snake" in his backyard, went and got his gun, shot it, and it didn't move. I think he shot it a couple more times. It still didn't move. Eventually he got up the nerve to go up and have a closer look, when he discovered he'd just shot up an old semi-buried, rolled-up tarp. image

I later saw the shot-up tarp in question, and it was one of those woven kind, and brown- it really did look somewhat snakey, the way it was lyin' there in the leaves. image

One time we were out metal detecting in Fernandina, Florida, when he came down this way for a visit. As he was stooped beneath a palmetto tree, I dropped a rubber snake, which slipped off the palmetto fronds and fell on his hat. Boy, you shoulda seen 'im come chargin' outta the brush! image

Aethelred might not have been in any danger of snakebite from my rubber snake, but I came dangerously close to gettin' my lights punched out when he found out it was a prank! image

(Actually, I've had a real snake drop out of a tree branch and land across the visor of my cap once, when I was out detecting. It was just a little green snake, but when his head swung over the brim of my cap and dangled in front of my nose, I had myself a wee little adrenaline rush fer a second!)

If a real snake ever fell on me I would have a heart attack and die, I have a snake phobia! I am sure the people who lived near me were more worried about "the guy with the crazy look in his eyes shooting that .410 than any snakes that might have been around!

Snakes don't especially bother me, although they will get a reaction from me when they fall across the bill of my cap. I'm not one to hold 'em or cuddle with 'em, but when I see 'em, I go my way and let 'em go theirs.

Spiders scare me worse than snakes, particularly if I'm out in the woods.

Never tried cobra. I had seen only one in my yard when I lived in Chiangmai. We had one trapped in a mouse glue trap in our drop ceiling. It came in the house through a hole the contractors never closed. I was running late for work so the nanny took it out and gave it to some workmen building a house across the lane. They ate it.

  • Snake giveaway cool im in on this one. Snakes dont bother me its the spiders, its the one thing I cant deal with all 6f4 of me. Just imagine this a 6f4 guy walking in the woods running into those webs that spiders string up between trees to catch humans. Well them imagine that same 6f4 guy screaming like a scared little girl and failing around like im having some kind of sezure and running at the top speed humanly possable. Flapping all the way out of the woods and still being creeped out for the next hour or so. That should give you a good idea of how spiders affect me. Good thing my cat has that natural spider killing driver in her.

Oh ya this is supposed to be a giveaway ummm enter me please.
