concerns over the Value of this John Elway card, any Ideas?
Guy has offered me a 2002 Score QBC materials John Elway gu jersey.. It's no longer encased (why it was removed is beyond me.)
How do you think this would effect the value? current value is listed as 40.00, since it's out of the case.. what would you say it's value is now?

I've removed a few factory encased cards from the original holder. Depends on how stratched or beat up the holder is. I've bought auto/game used cards that look great, but with holders that had a lot of ugly surface stratches on either back or front. It's amazing that some dealers take no care in handling these and don't bother with keeping the holders in a simple plastic sleeve. In fact, I wish the PSA slabs come with sleeves on them when they get sent out.
Then what it is is what it is and what it stays .

I love to collect Elway and Davis .
Have been a fan of Elway ever since my old man used to tell me to, "Watch what happens with this kid's future " back in Stanford .
The old man was right and we used to love watching him play all the time , we never made it all the way , but then Davis came along !
OHHHH MAAAN ! WE WERE SO HAPPY !
COULD THIS BE THE DUAL THREAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL THESE YEARS !??
I really miss all 3 of em .

All 3 of them? Is the third person your father?? Sorry if he is no longer with you.
I was living in Ft. Collins, CO, and had just graduated from CSU when the Broncos got John. I loved following his career, even after I moved my family to Minnesota to get my career started. I still have the Rocky Mt. News paper with him on the front after his first game. I've recently bought a couple graded Elways and have been thinking about starting up a Set Registry. The Basic only has 259 cards so far and the Master has 897. I'm sure there'll be more added, but these seem like reasonably sized sets to complete.
Are any of you Elway fans owners of a Set Registry collection?? Which set(s) are yours?
Thanks...
John

What an unbelievable career to watch too .
Some days you were disapointed , but most days you were not .
What an arm !
One of my dreams has always been to take a pass from Elway .
And get knocked out !
Ah ha ha ha ha .
I'll never forget Elway bein chased out of the pocket , rollin left and backward from his own 20 throwin it cross field down to thier 20 for a completed pass and a 20 yard recption for a TD .
Line drive pass,with power . . . . drilled, like only Elway could !
Forget about it . . . . When he left , a huge part of football left with him .
I only hope that excitement can come back for me one day .
For me .
Those were the good old days .
