I've had a ball spending Ikes over the weekend. I'm finding that most people have never seen the things!
Heck, I vaguely remember them myself! One teenage cashier in a restaurant was amazed, and couldn't believe the weight of the coins when I laid four of them in her palm for some NC barbecue! They are impressively weighty when you hold several of them.

I did it about 2 months ago,took my son to a school roller skating party and took about 5-6 Ikes with me, went up to the concession stand and paid for a pretzel and the girl was amazed..she looked at it for about 15 seconds flipped it over 2-3 times than finally asks me if it is real?...I said yes it is legal, told her when they were minted than gave her one for herself....needless to say she was tickled pink..The funny thing is a kid behind me seen me with them and immediatley knew what they were...said he had seen his dad with a few...and he was only about 8...

LOL! the cashier that took mine also gazed at it for a while, but never questioned its authenticity as legal tender. Certainly good for shock value!

I gave the girl at the Burger King 4 Kennedys for a $1.78 bill. I got $2.22 back. She asked 2 times what I gave her. I told her that I gave her 4 fifty cent pieces. The next try at the correct change was $1.78 or something like that. I just gave up.

For my daughters birthday party I gave all the girls (5) a party pak with an Ike, SBA & Sac.
Told them they had to fond out who was on the obv., & why.

I too would spend Ikes if I had some lying around.

I know what you mean TooTawl...Some cashiers have enough trouble giving correct change even when you hand them "regular old money."

The other week I had a girl at Burger King try to only charge me $.12 for 2 cheeseburgers.

Granted I had a coupon for buy-one-get-one free, but she insisted it would only be $.12 because that's what the register said.

I didn't have the heart to let it go so I had her call the manager over to get it straightened out.
