My Grampa lives in Tucson should I ask him to look for the extra leaves Wisconsin quarters for me?

I read eagleye's thread about the wisconsin quarters with the extra leaves, and was wondering if anyone can still find them in bank rolls in Tucson? I am a YN and don't think i can afford the prices he's talking about. Should I ask my Grampa to buy me some rolls to look through? Or is that a waste of time now?

Thanks!

Might be worth it if gramps can buy them for face value and they have not been circulated. And who knows gramps might even pay the postage to get them to you. Good luck.
  • That's what I was thinking too!

It certainly cannot hurt to ask him.

if he has email, shoot him the pics, if not.....print them off and mail them to him so he can at least keep his eyes peeled on his pocket change.

I'm sure your Grandpa would do that for you... as long as you tell him what to look for. I agree with goose3. Send him some pictures so he can keep an eye out...

  • Yes, I would ask him. See if he can't get all quarters in change, go to the bank, etc. He would probably like doing it for you. They are $60 coins right now.

  • Thanks everybody! Can you get all Wisconsin rolls from the bank? Or do they come mixed with other quarters?

By all means, go for it, and contact him right away. It's a real treasure hunt there, and I would be surprised if he has not heard all about it. The bank tellers are at the forefront of the effort, so that may or may not be a good source. Local businesses which buy rolls and have some around from a week or two ago may be a good source, if he has contacts with any small businesses.

  • A littel more detail that may help you. The Bank of america's had the coins so any business that deals with BofA may have them as well as any BofA branch.

    Cheers and good luck.
  • Thanks! I'll tell him about the Bank of America . image

  • I talked to my Grampa and he's going to go to some banks on Monday and send me 20 rolls of wisconsin quarters to look through. What should the rolls look like? Blue and white paper? or is that just nickel rolls?

I think the banks have been picked through. I think if you go to retail stores you may have better luck. I don't know if the managment would go along with this, though. Remember these came out in the November 29th shipment from the Mint, most are dispersed by now.
