The 1910-D Saint Revisited

Some of you may remember the 1910-D Saint I picked up after it was posted that the seller's terms were a little strict. I've been working on fine tuning the new camera I have, and I think I have gold down. Here are images I shot tonight.

  • What is that "S" to the left of the torch and below the L?
  • n/m I guess it's just the hair
It really stood out at first though.

Of course, I remember the circumstances. image Thanks for bring it up. image

I find Saints very difficult to photograph. Then again, I find coins very difficult to photograph. How close do you feel your image is to representing the in-hand appearance of your coin? To me, the coin looks a little more dark-orange and a little less lustrous than I would expect. I am not experienced enough to be able to tell you how to improve it, if it is not accurate.

It's extremely accurate. This coin has the mellowed out luster that does give it the slight orange tint. I like them like this.
  • I saw the "S" right away too Sphinx357

Nice job Eric, gold is really hard to shoot. But then again---so is silver and copper. Your new lighting set-up is really doing a great job for you.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Thanks John. I think I have a handle on halves, dollars, and gold, but I still seem to have some difficulty with nickels and dimes. I'm sure sooner or later I'll figure it out.
