Coins vs. currrency.........

OK, I get the whole decimal thing......... My question is "If coins come in denominations of 1-5-10-25-50-$1.00, why does currency differ and have a $20 denomination"?......... Why don't we have $25 bills instead of $20's??????

Why don't we have $25 dollar bills ?

    I guess because 5 - $20 bills amounts to $100

You could turn this around ya know, and ask why we didn't keep the 20 cent piece. Five of them made a dollar.

    I don't know what I'm saying. image

Probably the same reason we have a 2 dollar bill but no 2 cent piece image

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I've wondered about that too, but I don't think there's a good answer. In the UK they have 1 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, 1 pound and 2 pound coins, which match well with their 5 pound, 10 pound, 20 pound, ... notes. I wonder how many other countries have a 1/4 vice 1/5 of a unit coins?
