then circulated until it was in poor condition with nothing visable except the date and some
outline of the bust where it had been bent. It was then allowed to seriously corrode and
was harshly cleaned before being hit with something heavy.
I've never seen an identifiable coin in worse shape.

<< <i>Who says you can't find interesting coins in pocket change? I've always assumed this was a gas bubble trapped within the layers. It bulges on both sides.

Hi Jeff. This coin has been altered outside of the mint. This happens when a high heat is applied to the coin and it causes gasses to build between the clad layers and causes a bulge on both sides. If you think about the minting process and the pressure applied to a coin, there is no way that a coin could leave the mint the way your coin is.
<< <i>Forgive me if this is a dumb question but you don't know unless you ask. Why have some of you gotten these coins slabbed? Can they actually be worth slabbing and the cost of? >>
Certainly they can be worth slabbing. ANACS charges as low as $10 to slab a coin and most of the coins that I have seen above that are slabbed are worth well more then $10.
