What on earth is NGC doing to these GSA slabs before they certify them?

I posted a similar thread about this a couple of weeks ago when I got back what were 3 mint condition slabs when I sent them in to NGC for grading in the original slab.

I'm not savy enough yet to post my own pictures but if you look at Ebay item number 3949225430 you will see exactly what I got back when I sent mine in. Looks like they cleaned it with sandpaper before they put the grade label on it.

Can someone please help with the link?

I believe people are making a giant mistake defacing these GSA slabs by grading. Between this and the crackouts few of the original GSA slabs with coins will remain. For that reason mine will remain as received from the GSA.

I believe sandpaper is the first step in NGC's GSA grading process. It's on their website.

1000 grit to take off the shine of the gsa case- that or the seller tried to clean the case with nail polish remover. Bad for plastic - Great for toe nails...

I just checked one, and it looks fine except for the glue stuff. Maybe they just started this, as mine was done 2 years ago.

Yes, use goo gone on plastic---never acetone/nail polish remover. I'll leave the rest alone.

I know there have been lots of threads on what works best for taking scratches off plastic but would like to know again what have you used and what really works?
