I've had enough...

so during the holiday lull I think it's time to get the cabinets in order. I have been sliding medals in for the past year in no particular order and it's time to get them in their Kienast # sequence. My updated database will be of great assistance I think. Also, this time, I am going to place a "transient" drawer about every third drawer to give me room to grow without having to domino the entire collection everytime I acquire a new medal....one of the fallouts from storing the goods in this type of system. This could take a day or two me thinks....

BTW, These cabinets are now in a big honkin' safe....

" Are those really big medals, or really small drawers?"

You're new in these parts aren't you partner? image The drawers are 18"X18".... the cast Goetz medals range between 58mm - 150mm. Hell, there are even some 240mm pieces but I doubt I'll ever own either of them as there are only a couple of each.

"Do I see a Franklin Mint collector's kit in the background?"

Busted....yeah, this came along with "medal" sets I inherited from the parents. The silver Franklin sets are bullion and nothing more (boy, did they get screwed by buying from Franklin!) The kit you see had gloves, a magnifier, and dipping solution. I've never used the stuff but if I were to, I have plenty of their old stuff to practice on...image

You must have a walk in safe.image

Just get enough cabinets for all the Keinast now and put place holders in until you get the real one. You'll never have to move them around.image

Mark, It is a very large gun cabinet.

Gene, Unfortunately my hard drive crash sucked all my emails and references to the website I bought the cabinets from image I did provide links and info to this board on a number of occasions, did anyone retain the information?

    MY WORK IS DONE!!

Well it looks like the current Goetz, not counting the Guido sub collection, so far will fit within the twelve drawers of one unit. I must admit that it appears quite impressive. I am waiting for the 10-12 outstanding medals to arrive (today I hope...I hope...I hope...) at which time I'll try to get some images of each drawer and its contents to post here.
