I'd like opinions on this coin, & my photo skills. I think I'm improving but I also think I can

Cleaned, grade, is that a strike through by the eyebrow?
It has a finger print just left of the date.
The camera I'm using is a Ricoh RDC-4200, for the close-up I'm using the Coinscope with a 50x lens.
Please be honest, I can take it.
Thanks,
Glenn

    Glenn:

Hard to tell on the cleaning from the pics . . .some nice original cents have that olive coloration . . .

Strike through . .sure seems so! That looks like a textbook thread or wire bristle.

Good detail on the pics . . . . and nice coin.

Are you using a stand, cause the reverse looks a bit blurry to me, not as sharp as it could be. did you adjust the lighting for the source?

I used the Ricoh 4200 for about 6 months and then stepped up to a Ricoh RDC-7.....tons of features and great cam......good job so far.

  • Nice coin, the strike through I like.

Reverse seems a bit "fuzzy", overall nice pic.

  • Excellent pics- but a ?? what lighting are you using on the coin? Maybe it's my bad eyesight- but reverse looks a little flushed, maybe a color definition set up in the program?

    Very nice pics.
  • I'm using a 40 watt Reveal light bulb as my light source.
My camera settings were for the lowest grade of pic, to keep the pic below 50kb and adjusted the lighting for tungsten.
I still had to resize image (below 50kb) the pic of the Reverse side, that made it fuzzy.
I believe I nailed the color of the coin.

Are you using one of your xmas presents ???image

No, my Christmas present is we are switching from dial-up to DSL & hopefully I'll have some web space so I can host my own pictures.
No more of that 50kb crap, that's right folks I hope to be posting GIANT pictures for the New Year!image

Take the pics in hi res mode and downsize them in your image editing program. You'll get better pics starting with more pixels and letter the jpg algorithm decide how to decrese the file size.

  • Looks pretty good. How is the color accuracy?
The closeup is impressive. What is a coinscope?
How did you get the camera attached to it?

Based on the color as seen on my monitor . . . the coin looks cleaned and retoned (due to the unbalanced color and at least three distinct colors), but still a decent piece.

The close-up does look like a strike though, but it is difficult to say without examining the coin in hand.
