Why does Heritage always sell the French patterns in lots.

Here is a very nice lot of French patterns. I really like the design on the MAZ-1243A and the MAZ-1256A. Of course if it were just single pieces I know I wouldn't be able to afford them.
Maybe one of these days.![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif)
Here is alos a gorgeous Piefort. Man there are some gorgeous designs on French coinage.![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif)

Heritage has a selling policy: if the coins individually do not exceed a threshold on expected hammer price, they get bunched in lots.

<< <i> IMO that sucks for the people that aren't loaded or just have a tight budget to buy with. >>
CA, save your pennies and bide your time. Good things come to those who wait.
If you really want a French pattern - MS64ish like the few in that big lot, then advise dealers like Stephens, Staples, Civitas, etal. what you're looking for and ask them what a general price area for those might be. There was one which was bought and traded among members a few months back. Maybe boiler78 knows of it's whereabouts.....keep looking.
Good luck.

And how much would that be?

So, one french pattern coin: Est $100.00. If it realizes the full $100.00 Heritage probably gets %15 on both sides of the sale, so they net $30.00 for auctioning that coin. A $10-$20 loss. Even if their production costs per lot are $20.00 per lot, it's still not worth doing.
Chances are good that unless the coin has a good shot at realizing at least $250.00, they probably won't sell it singly.
