Anyone See the Beastly Morgan 68DMPL on Ebay?

For all you Morgan lovers, who wants to refinance their home and sell a few hard assets for this one?

1881-S Pop 1/0 Jack Lee $1 MS68DMPL PCGS

Is there a story on this coin? How much will she sell for?

  • Not the best pictures, but the fields look a little busy for a 68.

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
  • reserve is 26-28k. cool coin with a history. I believe the seller bought it this year from a Heritage sale.

    I would be a buyer around 15k

The fields on this coin do not look DMPL to me. Maybe it is just the haze obscuring the mirrors.

  • do you suppose that perhaps the coin "changed" whilst in the holder (probably in there for 7-8 years, no?)

This coin was offered about 15 months ago by Heritage in one of its internet only sales! It did not sell. The coin appears to have spectacular frost on the devices with an extremely clean cheek. The discolorations you see in the fields are not bagmarks, but probably surface stains from whatever chemicals they used at the mint.

Earlier this year Heritage offered another common date Jack Lee coin in MS68DMPL, without the surface distractions. That coin sold for $20,700.
