A few days ago I grabbed this very nice Norwegian skilling two secs before the auction ended:

This is an unusually nice example of this type which is normally found with planchet flaws or struck with defective or filled dies. Even the price was good. It's only half catalog here in Scandinavia

I like doing the two second manual snipe as well - even though I miss as often as I score.

Two seconds is my personal best. Not that best.


Then, I switched to Auctionsniper and I miss the sex but win the coins instead!

Actually, I don't snipe very often anymore. Many of the US-based auctions end at times when I'm asleep or when the internet is slow - and I don't want it to be too exiting. With this one, however, I had to. Some Norwegian collectors wanted it because they are quite expensive in Norway, so there I was. Beating someone with a second or two is great fun (for me ) but I also like winning an auction with a cent or two. That has happened a couple of times.

I have to admit a good snipe is often very satisfying. Better than sex - ummm - don't think so after all the 2 second thing would really deflate the ego.
