I saw this Ebay auction and wondered why so much energy for so little value of a coin?

The coin has maybe $3.50 worth of silver in it, and is nearly a well worn slick. This guy should be asking himself why? Why didn't he buy coins worth more than their intrinsic silver?

story to go with them.

In his other auctions he is selling a used coffee mug (0.05 cent bid now) with an even longer story about when he was 5 years old. I think he is heading for a relapse. Dude: Get to a meeting.

I think he should have saved this fantasy story for a coin worth more than $0.05. It's not really plausible, after all, that the police would let a speeding drunk driver go without a citation or arrest.

It isn't? In the 1980's they let me off many, many times. It was a different time then. Hell, they let me off after wrecking cars drunk.

Huge changes in a short number of years. In those days, most people didn't even sweat being drunk when stopped for speeding, etc. Now, first offense is jail, community service, and alcohol abuse therapy. His remorse is a sign of growth.
