How hard is it to make an NGC star coin?

Is there some type of ratio of how often the star is given out? 1 out of 20?

Just curious, I made my first one recently. A nice bag toned 82-S Morgan.
Collecting since 1976.

  • Do you have to pay extra for the star review?

  • I submitted 6 toned Ikes -- 4 MS and 2 proof. Both proofs came back as star coins. I was quite pleased!

It's all in the coin. There have been coins I submitted that I thought were a lock -- no star. With the 2 proofs -- I didn't even think * and got it.

    So who really knows.

send them a great technically high grade killer monster unbelieveable toned mintstate coin the best of the best and you will get it

unfortunately what most consider a star is not even close let alone on the same planet

Probally because it's really close to DCAM, or one side is unbelivably DCAM, and the other side is just CAM... Marty gets a lot of those...
