Finally managed to get this set...

Being a bit of a Star Trek nerd I had to own the two Star Trek series of coins issued by Liberia in 1996 and 1997. The 1996-series was quite easy to find. The coins dated 1997, however, are a different story. I have been searching for them for three years now without even seing a set offered for sale. Until now:

They did get quite expensive considering that the coins are cupro-nickel, not silver. But "danglen", another member in this forum, once told me that these coins were issued in very limited numbers - perhaps due to some copyright issues.

It sure feels good to fill such a difficult hole in my collection image

  • The auction pics are not very good. Perhaps I should mention that the coins show some of the different space crafts seen in the "Next Generation" series.

  • Coins with movies or actors as a theme would actually make a nice little area of collecting. I saw an E.T. crown offered on Ebay the other day. Countries like Gibraltar and France have also issued coins with famous actors and the history of movie making. The only problem here is that as far as I know there are no circulation coins with movies or actors. They are all NCLT.

Unless Hollywood got so big it has started to issue it's own coins? image
