10 (coin and forum-related) Things For Which I Am Thankful

RYKRYK Posts: 35,797 ✭✭✭✭✭
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are ten numismatic and PCGS message board-related things for which I give thanks in 2004 (in no particular order):

1. New friends (and old friends)
2. New coins (most important pick-up this year: 1861-D $5)
3. Dahlonega
4. Jeremy Katz's assistance with my website
5. The ANA's YN program at the summer show
6. CU and the staff that support these message boards
7. Show reports, market reports, "hot topics" articles, and other available sources of numismatic information and opinion
8. ANR for their high quality auctions and catalogs (though I still have not purchased anything)
9. That I do not have to photograph coins for a living (but thanks to Shylock for getting me started)
10. That I do not have to pay for Marty's submission fees, nor do I have to pay for TDN's upgrades image

Feel free to add to this thread anything (coin-related, of course) for which you are thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Robert

I'm grateful many of the coins I personally think are cool, others don't. It keeps the prices down!

    For the boards:

    -The free advice
    -Numerous opinions
-Getting me started with coin shows (TomB especially)
-Knowing a lot of new people, many of whom I've met
-The support I've received for my charity auctions

I'm thankful for the few crumbs Marty leaves on the floor for me to pick up. Like this one:

    I am thankful for:

    - All the good free advice on this forum
    - Being dropped from the AGC lawsuit
    - The continued unpopular status of most Barber Dimes
    - The ANA starting to do a little something toward consumer protection again
    - Meeting in person and doing business with a few honest dealers, including Randy Holder and Larry Whitlow
    - Most collectors learning about and ignoring the many bottom-feeder grading services
    - The increased price of silver -- makes it easier to trade my junk for a coin or two I really want

I am thankful that at the age of 70 I am still alive and kicking to think about coins. Also to thank God my memory is intact. I remember my 3 years in the USAF in England from 1951-54 like yesterday. To paraphrase Tiny Tim, "a merry Thanksgiving to you all".

I probably could have come up with a list of ten great things to be thankful for centered around our superstar YN, Jeremy:
Charity auctions, photography advice, website help, coin knowledge, ebay assistance, etc. At least six, anyway. image
