South African Medal

I don't normally buy medals, but saw this one on the bay and figured it would make a nice accent for the South African Ship Series that I am in the process of collecting. It's bronze, 39mm and looks to be turn of the century. If anybody has any other info, it would be appreciated.

Interesting medal. Looks like its in Afrikaans so I can't really make sense of some of the text.

The obverse says, "Paul Kruger, President of the South African Republic; October 10, 1825."

The reverse says, "Aan de Dappere Struders for right in Vrijheid 1809-1909."

I've got one of those sitting on my desk at the moment. Has something to do with the Boer War I believe. Best info I could find was that it's worth in the $50-$75 range.

A good deal at the very least. Another one is currently on eBay that is not as nice as yours (carbon and corrosion spots) that is going for $15.50 with about 2 days left. Of course they put those two magic words (Boer War) in the title while I see yours did not. It's all about marketing. The only example I could find when I was researching my example (about 2 months ago) was one in a South African auction catalog of military medals/exonumia and was estimated at the Rand equivalent of $60.00. There were none on eBay at the time.
