Nice Morgan on eBay. I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet!

Not mine, I'm amazed this one hasn't been plucked yet!

Seriously, if I was a Morgan guy I'd jump on this one. I don't know the Seller but this PCGS MS67 Morgan looks like it's all there and thensome.

Have Collectors just missed it (so far!) or is the high end color Morgan market softening?

Neat coin, but I wouldn't pay much of a premium for that color. JMHO.image

Hadleydog is correct. The color on that coin is not worth a significant premium. Anyway, it's only been up for sale for 6 hours, although I suspect that may well extend to 10 days.

In short, the fact that this coin has not yet been sold has very little significance for the market in toned Morgan dollars.

It's too expensive. The seller also has lousy images so it's really tough to access the true toning.

  • Also, note that this is an '81-S. There are plenty of '81-S toners to be had in MS66-MS67, many with color even more dramatic than this one. Those of us who collect by date, grade and color, and not just by color alone, would not be jumping so quickly on an '81-S that is VERY nice, but not "wild monster rainbow" etc.

It's certainly a toner and will sell for a fair premium, but it's usually the rainbow monsters across the entire obverse that bring what some would call "stupid money."

Definite flat strike above the ear. Almost looks like an "O" it is so flat.

This is a good example where the grade comes from the toning and not from strike. Without the toning it would probably grade 65 at most......What do you think????
