It's a medal commemorating the 80th birthday of Hindenburg, design by Karl Goetz. The D mintmark is for Munich. These are pretty common and yours doesn't seem to be in the best shape...

Is the edge lettering clear?

The inscription simply means Bavaria head mint, fine silver .900
I suspect the one pictured is worth $15 max.

Yes the lettering is clear, and actually the obverse pic is one and the reverse is the other one, scanned them both at the same time.

As to your question about world coins being offered for sale in here, the answer is yes. Usually someone who is selling coins on this forum will put the acroynm "SSP" in his title (indicating "Shameless Self Promotion").
