Should have known from the auction picture...

Received this 5 centime piece today and hadn't got it out of the packaging completely before I detected that horrible pink/violet hue of cleaned bronze/copper.

The picture was juiced red but I just liked the condition and didn't pay attention to the red background- coin was completely disguised. My first bad E-Bay purchase in 33 wins. Naturally I've e-mailed the seller to let him know it's coming back.image

Yikes. I hope the return goes smoothly.
On the bright side going 32 for 33 buying raw on e-bay is a pretty good average.

I've been all through this guy's pages, active or other wise and he always says Please click on and read my about "ME" and ALL instructions BEFORE you bid. but either I'm blind or I simply can't find what he's refering to.

Here's a direct link to his about me page. Just click on the "me" next to his name in the seller information box.

    Here's his return policy:

    RETURN POLICY
THERE IS A SEVEN DAY UNQUESTIONED RETURN PRIVILAGE FOR ANY SINGLE ITEM THAT YOU BUY IF IT IS NOT AS DESCRIBED IN THE ITEM LISTING. Lots of two or more pieces ARE NOT RETURNABLE. Lots described with faults, such as: cleaned, hairlined, marks (light or otherwise), damaged, corroded, rim problems, etc., etc. ARE NOT RETURNABLE. Lots that have been altered in ANY way other than the way they were sent to you ARE NOT RETURNABLE. Lots sold "AT", "BELOW" or "JUST ABOVE" MELT are considered bullion value items and ARE NOT RETURNABLE. This is because bullion items are affected by the daily change in the price of the bullion and it protects both you and me. Lots where the coin has been graded by a third party and is encapsulated in a sealed holder ARE NOT RETURNABLE. ***NOTE; ANY REFUNDS, NO MATTER HOW YOU MADE PAYMENT TO ME, WILL BE MADE PROMPTLY, BY ME, IN THE FORM OF A CHECK (no exceptions).

Laurent: Hi. Recieved your email. I have no control of my photographs. I wish I did and if I did I would not "COVER UP'' my photos so that I could get coins returned. Check my feedback and see about how many times "great coin" appears. Send the coin back any way that you wish. I will give you a full refund. Best regards. Jack Schmidt (numisland)

Well, he doesn't sound too happy-I suggested that he had juiced his image to disguise the cleaned coin- at least he says he is refunding my money. I told him that a satisfactory resolution would get him a carefully worded positive... a blind person could see the cleaning on this coin-
    photographic control or no.
