Wish I could post a picture, but one of my favorite coins is a 1972 Lincoln DDO. 90% of the "Whoa!" factor of the 1955 DDO, but more economical in a gem red Unc grade.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Oh yeah, just start this thread out by showing that 16 and making us all feel inadequate.

For the Liberty Nickel series, there are only a few, and not too dramatic.

    Here is the 1887 1-R-II

    And the 1887 3-R-II

Not that great of images, but all I can get.

Isn't there a double eagle with a DDR that has the largest separation of any known doubled die?

Until recently, the doubled die with the most impressive spread between hubbings was probably a Trade Dollar doubled die reverse, I forget the date. Then around a year ago a doubled die reverse was found on an 1872 Seated Dime with 180-degrees rotation between hubbings. I don't have any pictures handy, but it is quite impressive.

A couple of Trade Dollars: the 1876-CC DDR (note the doubling in the vine.berrys and the wing tip) and a 1878-S (doubling is on the arrows and 420). The pictures don't do them justice.

Not sure if the pic is too big or not. Here is a composite of my favorite DDO's - 1864, 1866, 1873, 1887, 1890 and 1891. One is a QDO - can you figure out which is which?? imageimage

Wow, awesome collage of IH DDO's Lakesammman!

Here's one I wish I owned, a 65RD 1955 from the Blay collection. Right up there with Oreville's example:

Paul - Lakes and my pics where taken with an old crusty Nikon Coolpix 995 (including Blay's 1955/1955). Ott Lites were just as important as the camera with these copper pics...

Of course......No prize for this one though Goose !!
Shylock, is that Nikon a digital camera ? I would assume so.....

Paul - yes, it was Nikon's top of the line digital about 4 years ago. Its 3.4 megpixels is caveman technology compared to what's out there today but remains a great camera for coins.
